  • FAQ About Gorilla PVC Glue

Where do I order Gorilla PVC Glue?
    Here: Gorilla PVC Glue

Where is the Material Safety Data Sheet?
    Right here: Gorilla Glue MSDS.

I get an oily residue around the glue joints. What is that?
You are probably using too much glue. Before you apply the glue to the parts, be sure to gently scrape the dauber against the can opening to remove excess glue. A little goes a long way. You can wipe the excess off with a paper towel or rag, or just wait and it'll evaporate.

Do I need to use Primer or cleaner?
Gorilla PVC Glue is self priming. That means you don't need to separately prime the pipe. However, in extremely cold weather, it's not a bad idea. Gorilla PVC Glue is compatible with all primers so it won't hurt if you want to use primer/cleaner.

Do I put glue on both parts?
    Yes.

Is it approved for potable water?
Yes. It's suitable and safe for potable water. NSF-14 & NSF-61: Gorilla PVC complies with ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Health Effects Requirements, and Standard 14 Plastics Piping System Components and Related Materials. Their Certified Product Listing allows it for use with PW, DWV, and SW. Note: The flexpvc pipe will sell is not approved for potable water systems. Using this glue will not change that. :-)

    What color is it?
    Goes on clear, dries white.

What about acids? Can it be used for pipes transporting acids?
    Yes, up to these concentrations:

  • 10% Hydrofluoric acid (HF)
  • 80% Sulphuric acid (H2SO4)
  • 36% Hydrochloric acid (HCI), and
  • 45% Nitric acid (HN03)

Can I use it with ABS or CPVC pipe?
No. See our PVC Glue Compatibility Chart.

    Is it equivelent to..... ?
See our PVC Glue Compatibility Chart.

*According to the DOT and NFPA, a flammable liquid is one that has a flash point below 100°F (37.8°C). "The (UL) Classification relates to an arbitrary scale which provides a numerical relationship to the flammability characteristics of certain liquids in common use." The solvent in Gorilla PVC, NMP, is neither explosive nor spontaneously flammable in air. It's flash point is over 200F. (Meaning it has to be heated to 200F before it gives off enough vapors to explode. However, it is combustible. When ignited, NMP will sustain a fire. Therefore, do not smoke when using Gorilla PVC Glue, and don't use around sparks.)
