SPECIAL NOTICES FOR JOHN GUEST FITTINGS John Guest (JG) fittings are called "push in fittings." They do not use any glue to make the seal. The tubing simply pushes into the fitting, you give it a little tug to set the collet, and it locks into place. They are the perfect solution to hydroponics needs. Fast and easy to use. To remove you push in the collet, and while holding the collet in, you pull the tubing out. They are re-usuable and very high quality. They are all potable water rated (NSF 14/51/61) and can be used with hot or cold water. They are identified based on the OD (outside diameter) of the tubing. This is different from just about everything else on this site. They are made in the UK. You use them with Polyethylene tubing. You can also use them with copper tubing and almost any other tubing used in hydroponics and other low pressure plumbing applications as long as you match the OD of the tubing with the proper JG fitting. If you are use them with "soft" tubing like vinyl, you should use inserts to go into the tubing and then the tubing goes into the JG fitting. We are starting out small (just 1/4" and 3/8" tubing and fittings for now) and will add to our inventory if demand warrants it. Also see our pumps page.
